On October 27, 2005, the Lancaster County Convention Center Authority (LCCCA) held a meeting and invited all Minority-Owned Business Enterprises (MBEs) and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (WBEs) to attend. The meeting was held at 6:30 PM in Room Nos.1&2, located in Southern Market at Queen and Vine Streets, Lancaster Pennsylvania. Presenting at the meeting was J. Allen Taylor Esquire, the MBE/WBE Liaison for the Lancaster County Convention Center Authority, who provided an overview of the Minority and Women Business Participation and Cooperation Plan adopted by the Lancaster County Convention Center Authority and how MBEs/WBEs can participate in the upcoming convention center and hotel project. Also in attendance was John Luzik, Project Manager, from Reynolds Construction, the Construction Manager on the project who provided an update on the convention center and hotel project, including tentative plans for construction and Invitations to Bid. On November 30, 2005, the Lancaster County Convention Center Authority held a meeting and invited all Minority-Owned Business Enterprises (MBEs) and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (WBEs) to attend. The meeting was held at 6:30 PM in Room Nos.1&2, located in Southern Market at Queen and Vine Streets, Lancaster Pennsylvania. Presenters at the meeting were:

· Curtis Burwell, Business Enterprise Analysis, Bureau of Minority and Women Business Opportunities who discussed the benefits of State Certification.

· Scott Hollinger, Senior Project Manager, Reynolds Construction, the Construction Manager on the Project, who discussed the upcoming DEMOLITION AND STABILIZATION BID which will be due on December 22, 2005 and provided an update on the convention center and hotel project, including tentative plans for construction and invitations to Bid.

· J. Allen Taylor Esquire, the MBE/WBE Liaison for the Lancaster County Convention Center Authority, who provided an overview of the MBW/WBE Participation & Cooperation Plan adopted by the LCCCA and how MBEs/WBEs can participate in the upcoming convention center and hotel project.

 

Other organizations in attendance and presented were representatives from SCORE, the Community First Fund, BASE, ASSETS, and the Kutztown SBDC organizations all of which offer technical assistance to help MBEs/WBEs get through the certification process.
